Michelin***: new Paella's for London

Selling a Superyacht with the best Western architecture in China is like selling spanisch Paella in the United Kingdom.

While Chinese clients need more a catering temple interior for their business friends than a cruising experience, British Gourmets like to enjoy more their less famous foods than experience new horizons. If you think different, just search on Google!

As a result Quique Dacosta (*** Michelin Chef from Denia, Spain) had to "individualize Spanish plates" to the British taste to make his new "Spanish" restaurant in London successful.
ARROS QD 64 Eastcastle St, Fitzrovia, London, prices between 60/80 euros per person arrosqd.com

According to Quique Dacosta in an interview by @JCCapel from elpais.es:
rep10_2
"We had to reduce the point of salt of our rice, the English prefer softer. At the same time, we have abbreviated the cooking times to present them more dente than in Valencia.
What is costing us the most is the "Socarrat" (the rice that gets crunchy and forms a crust at the bottom of the pan, a key for many who appreciate good paella). They often return paellas because the rice is burned.

We explain that this challenge is a fundamental part of the dish, that paella is not a risotto, that Socarrat is not accidental but intentional, and that it provides special notes. Even so, they reject us. Only some are getting used to it."

The new Food Temple "Arros QD" is created on two floors (1.000 m2) and decorated by interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán. More than 40 partners invested about 4.3 million pounds and 90 jobs have been created so far.

Be a missionary or adapt the market?
I am sure he will be flexible but he won't select a "Thermomix" solution! As he is a great ambassador for the Spanish cuisine let's wish him lots of SUCCESS! [375]1926p

Elon Musk warned for immortal dictator
by @norbertomoreau

A form of artificial intelligence (AI) smarter than humans could create an “immortal dictator,” billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk warned. This kind of Superintelligence could also result in a world war and it could pose a greater risk to the world than a nuclear conflict between nations.
More about at cnbc.com

Even the interview was taken a year ago, the US - China conflict gives more evidence than ever. Musk believes that humans should merge with AI to avoid the risk of becoming irrelevant. [346]2749

Apple’s sign-on strategy
by @norbertomoreau

Apple won’t restrict the system only to iPhone users. It will also be available on Android and Web Browsers what shows that Apple is aiming for internet-wide scale. And as with iMessage’s encryption and Safari’s block against third-party tracking for the vision of a more controlled alternative in the tech world.

With it Apple is adding an intermediary step, so the App doesn’t know your email and can’t combine data to get a picture of your activity across multiple apps.[347]

Detection of machine-generated text
by @norbertomoreau

A contribution of Yann LeCun (Facebook Vice President, Chief AI Scientist) presented Energy-Based Models applied to the detection of machine-generated text, as opposed to human-produced text. A PDF published by the Cornell University gives an insight.

As a result they show how through an extensive empirical analysis machine generated text can be detected automatically. This also opens the question how long it takes until machines provided with this knowledge bring their content to perfection. The next step in science are fake images, which is quite harder to detect. [351]

Flash is dying slowly
by @norbertomoreau

Google Chrome 76 beta (official release end of July) makes it even harder to use Flash. It also has been blocked by every major browser since years. The reason is the JS-like programming language inside the graphical environment which could even be compiled. A security problem.

But also a problem for publishers as it became easier to dodge paywalls. Editors Note: I was doing a few years Action-Script online support for programmers around the world until Adobe took over. [353]1111

Cybersecurity & Domain Fraud
by @norbertomoreau

Cybersecurity has become an important topic in each company nowadays as the vulnerability is raising. Internet domain fraud with fake domains is applied in many cases for Phishing. Here two examples, the character and the domain extensions game:

(1) Changing, for example, an 'm' for an 'r' and an 'n'. The result is 'rn', which looks quite similar and many feel being on their well known website filling aus forms and leaving their user data. Copying the websites is quite easy as programs spider the original version and download server side pages as html pages. A known example is carnbiando.com imitating cambiando.com.

(2) Even the US government was hit by a domain fraud. Instead of whitehouse.gov they set up whitehouse.com and they generated a turnover of 1 million dollars a year with inscription for pornographic content.

Summary: check all links and don't trust only the so called secure https. [377]1111

Sagrada Familia Barcelona got building permit
by @norbertomoreau

Barcelona's city authority has granted the Antoni Gaudí-designed Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction since 1882, its first building permit. The announcement was made by Janet Sanz, Barcelona's deputy mayor for ecology, urbanism and mobility, who tweeted an image showing her signing the permit.

The UNESCO world heritage site now has an official permit from the local council that will allow the building to be completed.
However, it came at a cost of €4.6 million (£4.1 million) – adding to the €36 million (£31 million) that Sagrada Familia already agreed to pay city officials last year to cover municipal expenses racked up after decades of building works. [354]

Mandarin spreads out in Africa
by @norbertomoreau

Did you know that South Africa has 11 official languages? Over generations students were forced to study colonizers’ languages, now new Mandarin classes have sparked debate. Chinese embassy's finance schools when applying courses.

Some teacher unions see it as another form of colonization. But as more than 20% of the world speaks Mandarin this also could seen as a chance for growth. And who really needs konyn (Afrikaans) unogwaja (Zulu) or mmutla (Sesotho) in a world growing together? [368]

A new Filipino law requires every student to plant 10 trees if they want to graduate. The bill, called the "Graduation Legacy For the Environment Act", was approved in the House and is now sent to the Philippines Senate for action.
It is estimated that over the course of one generation the bill will be responsible for 525 billion trees planted.

China move from manufacturing to creation
by @norbertomoreau

Chinese companies are on the way to climb up the value chain from the world’s manufacturing base to a country of creation and original ideas.
As there are no homegrown brands or groups that can be compared to global industry leaders, it will take a while. But a while will be shorter in China than in the Western world. We will see that with Huawei´s own HongMeng and Ark OS. The first devices with their software are expected to launch in October.

MaFengWo (马蜂窝) - the “travel bible”

After for over 10 years in business MaFengWo took steps to become an online travel agency (OTA) and developed a new model of tourism focused e-commerce. They accumulated meanwhile a massive user base by helping younger Chinese netizens with their travel plans.

The concept: they attempt to match supply to demand instead of the other way around. Means, instead of offering separate services and let customers take the initiative to purchase, it matches travel products with relevant information hosted on the platform. As a result it simplifies the complicated travel planning process. By typing in names of destinations or hotels, the sites give out all the travel essentials required all in one page whether its bookings, information, travel routes, popular attractions or relevant products! Mass tourism in Denia, Spain
by @norbertomoreau

Denia, a tourism village south of Valencia with access to Ibiza had to limit the access to a seaside Cave "Cova Tallada". The new regulations oblige the visitor to register with their National Identity Document and only allow five tickets for each registered DNI. In addition, reservations for tickets only can be made up to 15 days maximum. Reservations can be done only in Spanish or Valencian.

It is a cave at sea level with 800m of depth that served as a quarry to the Muslims and they were carving it to extract its rocks to make its constructions. It is an area suitable for bathing and the water is quite clear. In addition rocks and an island help to brake the waves.

Many times I have made the route with groups of 20 to 80 people of different ages. (1km / 20-50 min) Some parts to access the cove have been improved lately as being dangerous. As a result everybody can have a walk to have a good time and leave their garbage. [361]1111
