Google is known killing own products seemingly for no reason. Now we had to say goodby to 4 products G+, Inbox, goo.gl and Allo.
Inbox launched in 2014 was the advanced Gmail. Some features have been integrated in the less-smart Gmail, but everybody is waiting now for the announced new Email Client, showing Mails like News.
The goo.gl public link shortener started 2009 and will only continue for already created links. Many platforms like Twitter or Linkedin use their own system. I also created an own company based system on all8m.
Allo started very quick. 1 million users after launch and 10 million within 3 months. But Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp were switching to a 'b'illion. Meanwhile Google’s Duo video chat app performs better and as it looks like it already kills some phone providers.
On G+ I followed the high motivated co-founder Vic Gundotra who integrated users for improvements since beta version (2011) and also the less impressed ex CEO Eric Schmidt. The famous innovation was the one person account with different topic-follower circles dedicated to interests and blog-like written content with page and group extensions later. rep10_2
In 2014 Vic Gundotra left as the company deemphasized the platform. Then the mobile-first redesign was done with a fragile leadership, more managers left and later G+ was abandoned and parked. As some security vulnerabilities happened the company was talking about the shutdown.
So what was Google really doing?
Let's focus what Google Internet 'is' doing! They have three main categories of users:
(1) content producers, (2) content curators and (3) content consumers.
Producers and curators (private sharing and professional platforms) have the most value as influence factor when following a quote with extreme high third party content (like 10/1) which delivers the best "food" for Google's Search Engine.
As a logical strategy from my humble point of view they let G+ die as Facebook had already taken the market and is doing the job for them. While getting their data they can concentrate on future projects elaborated in the umbrella corporation abc.xyz.
By the way, there are 150 projects shut down by Google which are published by an US blogger titled Google graveyard. 1915p

GDPR - In several discussions since a year with Lawyers we commonly agreed that you can hardly comply to the rules and even trying to be fully GDPR compliant is also more than just a good idea.
One example complying: media lawyer Christian Solmecke pointed out that according to the law the visitor confirmation together with a screenshot of the actual content is needed before the websites opens and sets cookies.
One example not fully complying: most people don't read the info, but have to click a 1-2 step button which could carry a “super cookie” with rebuildable fragments of malware or a "zombie cookie" that re-creates itself after being deleted. The inside code or link is usually encrypted and will be decrypted when used. Browsers would have ways to filter but who filters when no regulation has been made. (Source: I was working with young hackers to solve related server problems of clients.)
As a result there should be a more logical workflow imposing laws in the EU.
More fraudulent Wi-fi networks
Wireless hotspots designed to collect personal information are growing. Online security is equal to physical safety for traveller's. Thats why stay off public hotspots and better find out the official Wi-fi network of the facility from the management or use a virtual private network (VPN), which offers an extra layer of encryption.
Human slaves work already for robots
AI is becoming a huge lucrative market and the role for humans is prepping data so AI can learn to do our jobs. According to the CEO of IEEE workers abroad who label data earn between $3 and $6 an hour. India’s AI back offices
SocialMedia leaders join
Mark Zuckerberg believes that a common global framework is the solution, which he can control if taking the initiative. Tim Cook also joined the initiative, even he criticized routinely ad based business models like Facebook.
But working with privacy also includes encryption, which many countries oppose. So let's wait first for the US version to perhaps improve the European dilettante GDPR laws.
Apache Server vulnerability closed
Apache Server Software has patched a vulnerability that could execute code with root privileges and take over the underlying server. It is a vulnerability I know from a server company in Singapore when solving server problems for a consulting client.
The result beside robbing data is the well known redirection to other ad, porno or malware sites. As the robbing cannot be detected and the redirection is blocked for the company users or admins, permanent financial losses are programmed. A vulnerability I know from a server company we were working with in Singapore.

Bayer suffers cyber-attacks
German chemicals giant Bayer was the victim of a cyber-attack for more than a year. The former head of Germany's BND foreign intelligence service, Gerhard Schindler, told the radio stations it was very difficult to determine the hackers' location. Winnti's malware has also been detected at three other, smaller companies in Germany this year, as well as industrial giant Thyssen-Krupp in 2016.

Vietnam Real Estate
The Vietnamese real estate market attracts investors from Asia, US and EU, thanks to the current favorable business conditions, according to Le Hoang Chau, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Real Estate Association. The foreign direct investment (FDI) in the 1stQ 2019 was $10.8 billion.
In 2019, segments of housing, trading centres, offices for lease, and especially industrial development and logistics services will increase.
Ghost Villages For Sale In Spain
In Spain there was a spectacular rural exodus the last couple of decades, due to the lack of opportunities to work in agriculture. Despite attempts to repopulate it, there seems to be no turning back. The result? It is estimated that there are about 3,000 villages in Spain that are abandoned, plus a high percentage of practically unpopulated villages.
Some still have a rich heritage that would be a pity to lose.

Harder to sell properties to Millennials
It starts that Millennials don't want the same types of homes baby boomers do. Business Insider compared the habit differences. Statistically they make other lifestyle choices related to marriage, family and spending money, reported by the Wall Street Journal.
They also spend more money on health, wellness and experiences than material goods. Even they are seen as renters, they want to buy. But homes built before 2012, Mediterranean or Tuscan-style architecture are hard to sell. Clean lines, not too big and open floor plans are their choice.

Chinese brands become popular
Luxury consumption, investments and a huge appetite for Western products have been defined China the last couple of years.
Watching the Marketing and Influencer Market of Western Brands in China, there is evidence that a new “cultural confidence” is growing!
Now consumers are paying more attention to craftsmanship than status symbols when it comes to luxury, and it is an opportunity for domestic brands.
With it the word “国潮” (Chinese heritage hip) went 2019 from a buzzword to a legitimized concept. It is even used in China’s official government talks.
The next step after reducing the western market influence will be the international promotion and the export. 1111:2288
China’s penetration of Europe
The political landscape knows no geographical boundaries for China. After Italy the heavyweights Germany, France and the UK are in the focus, followed by the lightweight eastern states Romania and Hungary, as well as the smaller once as Belgium, Portugal, Greece and Austria.
Political orientation is not either a topic. China has traditionally had links with mainstream parties in Europe, even with right-wing populists, anti-immigrant nationalists and Italy’s anti-establishment Five Star Movement.
China's strategy goes along with with the campaign for EU-wide elections to the European Parliament in May.

'Colony' vs 'territory'
A European parliamentary committee on Wednesday approved a draft law that defines Gibraltar as a British "colony," a move described as "completely inappropriate" by UK authorities.
The 'Rock' as it is also known, was seized by British troops in 1704 and ceded to the British Crown a decade later as part of the Peace of Utrecht treaties.
Britain called it a "crown colony" until 1981, but it now describes it as a British "overseas territory."
Tory MEP Daniel Dalton blasted the move as “an attempted land grab by Spain”
Songkran canceled in some zones
Thailand’s New Year, is celebrated from Apr. 13 to 15 and it is considered as the biggest water fight in the world. Traditionally, revelers splash water over each other to confer blessings and symbolize a fresh start, the custom being a welcome respite from the heat during the hottest month of the year.
But the tourist Mecca in the center will not provide water, water guns etc. in shops since the coronation of the king takes place at the same time. In preparation for the coronation authorities have been busy hurrying refurbishments near and along Khaosan Road, including repainting buildings and rebuilding pavements.

The main related website CharterEventos (Yachting & Events at Sea and Land) is under renovation with structure changes, new layout, new logo and a modified Yachtcharter section. Since 2009 the site offered 400 registered yachts, 80% bareboat (Spain) and 20% crewed charter (France, Italy, Turkey).
As corporative incentives substituted events of private groups, the 80% focus for the next years will be on crewed charter in the Mediterranean and in the East Asia region.

“We have to be practical,” said Mandarin Oriental’s CEO James Riley. “If one looked at this site and the value that could be realised from redeveloping the building as a hotel, it was significantly less than the value that could be realised from redeveloping it as an office block.”
Causeway Bay is also transforming from a shopping and entertainment area into a commercial district, as some professional firms have already been pushed out by Central’s eye-watering rents to look for cheaper space elsewhere. And no other office tower is being developed in Causeway Bay over the next five years , said Eric Ong, CEO of Midland IC & I Real Estate.
Spain grape exports to China
China is not only importing wine from Spain, table grapes are very popular. The demand for patented seedless varieties has been growing steadily in recent years.
It is expected an export up to 3,000 tonnes of table grapes to China this year, according to APOEXPA.
Spanish producers start to profit from the recent fall of the Californian grape exports to China as a result of the trade war.
Spanish wine to conquer China
Chinese wine professionals visited Spain to learn more about Spanish wines. The goal was to convert these trade professionals into ambassadors in China. They were visiting some of Spain’s most emblematic wine regions, including Rioja, Bierzo, Rueda, Ribera del Duero, Jerez, Rías Baixas, and Penedés, etc.
During their visit from March 25th to April 8th, they learned about different varieties, quality, and much more. Once they’re back at home, they can help to raise the image among Chinese consumers.
